On Thursday Nov. 20, the Seattle Mariners received the 2014 Commissioner’s Award for Philanthropic Excellence. The award recognized their “Refuse to Abuse” domestic violence prevention program, a state-wide initiative—in partnership with the Washington State Coalition Against Domestic Violence, Sound Publishing and Craters of the Moon Marketing—to promote healthy relationships and take a public stand against domestic violence.
“We are thrilled that the Seattle Mariners national leadership in professional sports is being recognized. We are grateful for the commitment demonstrated throughout the Mariners organization and for the partnership of Craters of the Moon Marketing and Sound Publishing. Together we are building respect and hope in communities across our state,” said Nan Stoops, Executive Director, Washington State Coalition Against Domestic Violence.
Sound Publishing helped increase the visibility of the Refuse to Abuse initiative by reaching millions of Washington state residents with print and digital advertising, guest columns, editorial content and point of purchase newspaper rack cards.
Sound Publishing is very proud to have directly supported the Mariners’ work and would like to formally congratulate the Seattle Mariners on receiving this honor.
