REPORTER – Sports (Everett, WA)

The Daily Herald, a division of Sound Publishing, Inc. has an opening for a Sports Reporter. We want a skilled and passionate writer who loves covering sports.  Applicants must be self-starters willing to take responsibility for reporting, writing, taking photographs, writing headlines and all the basic work a Sports Reporter does.

Expectations:

  • Must have a bachelor’s degree in journalism. Prefer 2-5 years of experience.
  • Must have advanced computer skills and a working knowledge of AP style.
  • Will be required to produce daily stories for online publication.
  • Must be able to focus on issues and content reflective of our readers’ values.
  • Must be able to work as part of a team and independently as the workload dictates.
  • Shooting photographs and video is required.
  • Should be proficient at utilizing digital tools and print / digital software in the field.
  • Must be adept at social media and new media platforms.
  • Must be able to complete clerical tasks including clocking in and out via electronic timekeeping system, expense reporting, etc.
  • Must follow all company policies and procedures.
  • Must have a working cell phone and reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license and be properly insured.

This is a full-time position that includes excellent benefits: medical, dental, life insurance, 401(k), and paid sick, vacation, and holidays. Starting wage range is $20.50 per hour.
