ENVIRONMENTAL REPORTER
The Daily Herald is seeking an experienced reporter to spearhead our coverage of the environment and climate change, topics of great importance to our Pacific Northwest readership. You’ll need a good pair of boots. The ideal candidate is a clear, concise and prolific writer who can tackle breaking news and also produce in-depth stories. You’ll provide our readers insight into some of the complex issues that confront our region: sea-level rise, forest and tidal lands preservation, climate-driven population migration and restoration of endangered species including salmon and our iconic orcas. An ability to develop a wide range of sources in business, government and academia is a must. The reporter should be comfortable taking photos and video and have an aptitude for alternative forms of digital storytelling. The environmental reporter might also be called on to author a subscriber email newsletter and be a representative at Daily Herald events.
The Daily Herald, with the website HeraldNet.com, has been the leading news and information source in Snohomish County, Washington, for more than a century. We are in Everett, a vibrant and growing community 30 miles north of downtown Seattle, framed by breathtaking views of Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains to the west and the Cascade Range to the East.
